Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer and Shivam Dube Headline Star Retentions as Mumbai Cricket Association Unveils T20 Mumbai League 2026 Player List
Mumbai Cricket Association has announced retained players for the 2026 T20 Mumbai League featuring Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer and Shivam Dube as Icon Players across franchises. The retention list highlights strong domestic and international talent ahead of the upcoming auction and fourth season of the league, boosting competitiveness and player development.
Triumph Knights Mumbai North East have retained Suryakumar Yadav as their Icon Player, alongside Ayush Mhatre and Suryansh Shedge. SoBo Mumbai Falcons, the previous season’s runners-up, have secured Shreyas Iyer as their Icon Player, supported by Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Harsh Aghav. Defending champions Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals have retained Tushar Deshpande as their Icon Player, along with Siddhesh Lad and Rohan Raje.
Bandra Blasters have retained Yashasvi Jaiswal as their Icon Player, alongside Suved Parkar and Dhrumil Matkar. ARCS Andheri have confirmed Shivam Dube as their Icon Player, supported by Pragnesh Kanpillewar and Deepak Shetty. Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs have retained Sarfaraz Khan as their Icon Player, along with Shams Mulani and Jay Bista.
North Mumbai Panthers have retained Ajinkya Rahane as their Icon Player, alongside Abhigyan Kundu and Tanush Kotian. Eagle Thane Strikers have retained Shardul Thakur as their Icon Player, supported by Atharva Ankolekar and Sairaj Patil.
According to the Mumbai Cricket Association, the retention of prominent players including Under-19 World Cup-winning captain Ayush Mhatre, Shardul Thakur, Tushar Deshpande and Sarfaraz Khan highlights the increasing stature and competitiveness of the league. The presence of players with Indian Premier League and international experience is expected to elevate the quality of competition significantly.
Mumbai Cricket Association President Ajinkya Naik stated that the retentions represent a strong statement of intent from franchises, reflecting the growing strength and credibility of the league. He added that the opportunity for young players to share dressing rooms with established international cricketers will be crucial for their development.
League Governing Council Chairman Rajdip Gupta emphasized that the retention strategy reflects both clarity and depth of talent across franchises, noting that the blend of experienced and emerging players is expected to produce one of the most competitive seasons in the league’s history.
Since its inception in 2018, the T20 Mumbai League has served as a vital platform for talent development, with several players progressing to represent Mumbai, participate in the Indian Premier League, and earn national selection. With the retention phase completed, focus now shifts to the upcoming player auction, which will further shape team compositions ahead of the new season.
